Cyclone Biparjoy transformed into a cyclonic storm on 6 June 2023 and has existed as a cyclone over the Arabian Sea for the past few days, making it one of the long-lasting cyclones to impact India. It is the second storm of the 2023 North Indian Ocean cyclone season and it has hit the western side of the India.

Biparjoy Cyclone: Live location
Severe Cyclone Biparjoy has made landfall via Jakhau coast in Kutch, Gujarat. Due to the cyclone, it was raining heavily in many areas including Mandvi, Devbhoomi Dwarka. Winds were blowing at a speed of 125 km per hour and the scene of devastation is being seen. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the center of the cyclone (I) was spread over a radius of about 50 km. As per India Meteorological Department (IMD), Cyclone Biparjoy has weakened into a ‘deep depression’ after making landfall in the coastal areas of Gujarat and it is expected to weaken further. As per the news, the cyclonic storm weakened into a ‘Deep Depression’ over southeast Pakistan.

If the districts of South Haryana will be affected the most, then the areas adjacent to Rajasthan will also be affected. Wind speed up to 40 to 50 kmph is forecast in these areas. Due to the combination of western disturbance and cyclonic wind, heavy rain and thunderstorm conditions can also be seen in some places. From Mahendragarh, Rewari, Gurugram, Mewat, Palwal, Faridabad, Jhajjar and Rohtak to Hisar, Bhiwani and Dadri, there are strong chances of widespread changes in the weather. At the same time, the possibility of pre-monsoon activities starting from 20 June 2023 has also increased.

Weather affected by cyclone effect
According to weather experts, the cyclonic storm formed in the Arabian Sea is active in Rajasthan after hitting Kutch in Gujarat. Due to this, there has been heavy rain with thunderstorms. Now the cyclone has weakened somewhat, but due to the weather activities associated with it, the districts of Hisar, Bhiwani, Dadri, Jhajjar, Mahendragarh, Rewari, Mewat, Palwal, Gurugram, Faridabad etc. will be mainly affected in Haryana. There will be periods of rain or drizzle in these areas. Heavy showers will also occur at some places. Biparjoy Cyclone – Impact on Gujarat
The Cyclone Biparjoy caused extensive financial loss to the state power company with more than five thousand electric poles fell off. The Gujarat government now faces the immediate challenge of restoring electricity to villages and clearing fallen trees on roads. More than four thousand villages were left without electricity after Cyclone Biparjoy hit the state.
During this thousands of electric poles were uprooted but Electricity Department had already taken appropriate steps. Cyclone Biparjoy may have passed through Gujarat, but the state’s troubles have not stopped. The IMD has warned that north Gujarat can witness heavy rainfall even as the cyclone has weakened after making landfall.
